What is a Double Degree?
The double degree MSc Development Economics/ MComm Economics is jointly offered by two universities: the University of Göttingen and the University of Stellenbosch. This means that you acquire two degrees which would separately take two and one year of studies respectively within two years. During this time you spend two semesters at each university, and it is up to you to decide where to write your thesis.
Because academic years at the partner universities follow different structures, your stay in Stellenbosch can last from 9 to 14 months, depending on where you write your thesis.
Once you finished your coursework (ten courses in Göttingen and further six in Stellenbosch, every course worth 6 ECTS credit points) and thesis you will be awarded two individual degree certificates which both state that you acquired them within the framework of a double degree.
