ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

International German Alumni Seminar
Banda Aceh and Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia, 3-11 October 2015

This International German Alumni Seminar will be organized by the Agriculture Faculty, Georg-August University of Göttingen, Germany and co-hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University (Banda Aceh) and HKBP Nommensen University (Medan), Indonesia. It is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service ? DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst). The aim of the Seminar is promoting the cooperation between the German Alumni from developing countries in South and Southeast Asia and enhancing their capacity building in an interdisciplinary platform. The main topic of this Seminar will refer to the UN Millennium Developing Goals with specific emphasis on climate change issues, environmental sustainability, food and nutrient security, and sustainable management of natural resources.
The Program includes key note talks by invited experts, oral presentations by the participating alumni, group discussions and field trips. Excursions to Banda Aceh City, the Aceh Besar and Karo districts will demonstrate the community agricultural activities, sustainable use of natural resources, communitybased conservation, plant nursery, and present several important disaster mitigation activities. A social and cultural program provides additional space for networking and discussions about future research cooperation.
