Titel: Quantum Gravity from Causal Dynamical Triangulations (for the Uninitiated)

Inhalt: A gaping hole in our understanding of the fundamental interactions are the dynamical quantum laws underlying Einstein's theory of General Relativity. A theory of Quantum Gravity should provide a description of gravitational interactions on ultra-short scales, and answer some foundational questions on the ultimate nature of space and time. I will introduce Causal Dynamical Triangulations (CDT), a nonperturbative path integral construction that relies only on "good old" quantum field theory and statistical mechanics, but takes the dynamical nature of spacetime geometry into account. I will review the method and describe its most important results, stressing the importance of nonperturbative, numerical tools in understanding quantum gravity.
