Beschreibung | Bimodal Transport describes the combination of traditional Public Transport (PT), also called Fixed Route Transport (FRT), and Demand Responsive Ride Pooling (DRRP). The goal of Bimodal Transport is to combine the flexibility of DRRP services with the efficiency of classical line services in a non competitive manner. We studied bimodal transport via simulations on a square lattice and on real street networks. We find that there is a critical non-dimensional parameter which determines whether bimodal transport is reasonable from an ecological point of view. Furthermore we analyzed the performance of the system under various parameter settings and identified under which conditions the overall ecological footprint (emissions) can be minimized while maintaining satisfactory customer service (quality). This was done by computing the Pareto Frontiers for these two performance measures (quality and emissions). |
