Euroculture Alumni Seminar/Conference

Dear Euroculture alumni,

We would like to invite you to our Euroculture Alumni Seminar/Conference entitled "15 Years of Euroculture: Europe in the wider World", which is going to be held from October 14-18, 2014 on the University of Göttingen campus. The project is funded with a grant from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the German Federal Foreign Office.
During the project panel discussions, in which high-profile experts will explore a broad range of topics in the realm of political, social and cultural development of Europe, as well as professional development workshops with Euroculture alumni will take place. On October 19, the event will end with a joint graduation ceremony for the Euroculture Göttingen class of 2014 and a celebratory farewell to the guests of the conference in the University Aula on the Wilhelmsplatz.

How to apply for a travel grant:

To apply for a travel and accommodation grant, please write a short motivation letter explaining why you would like to attend the conference and how you could contribute to the programme (max. 400 words). In your motivation letter you also need to indicate whether you will be able to attend the whole conference. Please also send us your CV.
Travel and accommodation grants will be available for Euroculture Göttingen Alumni. Please note that unfortunately the number of grants is limited, so the selection of grantees will be based on your motivation letters. Participants living in Germany and/or holders of a German passport are of course very welcome to attend, but not eligible for the grants.

Application deadline: August 31. Please send your applications to eurocult@uni-goettingen.de

Reimbursement:

If your application is successful, your travel expenses will be reimbursed.
The reimbursement is possible only upon submission of originals of the corresponding tickets/receipts/invoices by cash within a few days of your arrival in Göttingen. Advance payment is not possible. Accommodation costs will be covered. Hotel reservations for the duration of the conference have already been made.

Reimbursable means of transportation are: flights (economy class), trains (second class), public transport (second class), private cars (gasoline is reimbursed upon submission of the original receipt).

Your expenses will be reimbursed in Euro. If the costs occurred in other currencies, the official monthly rate of the Euro will be used.

Please note that the reimbursement will be done according to the following rules:

  • The Euroculture conference should be your main point of travel. The Euroculture conference is still regarded as the main point for travel if the participant decides to prolong his/her stay before or after the activity for not longer than ten days in total (five days of the seminar + five additional working days)

  • The travel is reimbursed following the model "point A - Göttingen- point A" or "point A - Göttingen - point B".

IMPORTANT! Stop-over longer than one day is considered to be final destination.

There is an agreed Reimbursement Cap set for the Euroculture conference, which means that expenses up to the agreed amount can be reimbursed.*

  • Participants travelling from China: 700 Euro
  • Participants travelling from Europe: 350 Euro
  • Participants travelling from North and South America: 750 Euro
  • Participants travelling from Russia and CIS: 500 Euro
  • Participants travelling from Middle East: 500 Euro
  • Participants travelling from South East Asia: 750 Euro.

*If the starting point and the end point of the trip are in different cap-regions the average of the two different caps applies. Example: (North American Cap + European Cap)/ 2 = average cap (550 Euro).

Please note that only Euroculture Göttingen Alumni (meeting the criteria above) who will have graduated by October 1, 2014 are eligible for funding.
