| Beschreibung | The aim of the workshop is to explore the potential working mode of a planned academy of planetary humanities, to establish the scope of the academy, its questions and ideas, and to discuss initial collaborations. During the workshop, participants will be invited to reflect upon the question of apt structures and interaction patterns of a planetary academy in the humanities. This leads to a plethora of very foundational questions warranting careful reflection and further discussion. For instance, how do we need to think of values like representation and inclusiveness when operating in academic structures that are designed to articulate thinking of planetary relevance? And how should one balance the need for funding with the problematic global dominance of wealthy academic systems? In our workshop in Göttingen, we are committed to confronting and remedying this legitimacy problem, not through argument, but through strategies of increasing inclusivity and decentering of authority. |
