Titel: An Earth-like planet orbiting our nearest stellar neighbour Proxima Centauri

Inhalt:
In this talk I will put in context the discovery of Proxima b in terms of the available technology and what we have learned about exoplanets in the last few years. Using available and brand new spectrometers optimised for precision radial velocities on red-dwarfs, we are in the process of scrutinising the nearest stars for warm terrestrial planets as part of large surveys and with targeted campaigns. Besides being the nearest targets for future interstellar travel, their proximity to the Sun should enable obtaining direct imaging as well as spectroscopic information within the next decade, even using ground based facilities.
