Iranian Sound Archive (ISA)

The Institute of Iranian Studies (Seminar für Iranistik) of the Georg-August University Göttingen is unique in the West in that it is creating a digitised archive of sound material in Iranian languages. At the moment the Digital Sound Archive comprises the collections of Prof. Mary Boyce (material recorded in Zoroastrian communities of Yazd and Kerman in the 1960s), Prof. Joyce Blau (recordings of a wide range of Kurdish and Lori dialects from Iraq and Iran), some of Prof. David Neil MacKenzie's Kurdish recordings, Prof. Philip Kreyenbroek's Yezidi and Parsi material, recordings of Kurdish performing art made by Dr. Lokman Turgut, and of sound-material in Persian, Pashto, Yaghnobi and other Iranian languages. The Institute of Iranian Studies (Seminar für Iranistik) of the Georg-August University Göttingen is unique in the West in that it is creating a digitised archive of sound material in Iranian languages.

We would be very grateful if anyone who has relevant sound material which they wish to share with the academic community, would let us publish that material as part of the Archive. You are cordially invited to contact PD Dr. Khanna Omarkhali for further information. Copyright remains with the author/collector/interviewer. Bona fide scholars can obtain copies of the full recordings from the Institute of Iranian Studies.
