Junior Research Group "Microbiology" - Diversity and functions of microbial communities in the rhizosphere and/or the soil

Applications are being accepted for a tenure-track professorship in the Junior Research Group „Microbiology“.

The task of this junior group will be to elucidate functions of diverse microbial communities in a spatiotemporally changing environment. The research will bridge root functions and exudation with acquisition of nutrients from inorganic and organic sources.

This research is expected to contribute substantially to the molecular mechanistic understanding of processes affecting microbial/fungal communities in the vicinity of roots and their significance in forest or agricultural systems.

Applicants should be familiar with state-of-the-art methods (e.g. proteomics, transcriptomics, FISH, SIP, etc). Applicants addressing questions on evolutionary aspects of microbial adaptations on their way from saprophytes to e.g. pathogens are encouraged to apply.
