SFB 990 Ecological and socioeconomic functions of tropical lowland rainforest transformation systems (Sumatra, Indonesia)

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has recently approved a new large Collaborative Research Center, CRC 990 (Sonderforschungsbereich, SFB 990), on Land Use Change in Indonesia to be established at the University of Goettingen starting from January 2012. The first 4-year phase of this long-term project will be funded with about 14 million EUR. This is a collaborative undertaking between agricultural, forestry, biological, and social science researchers at Goettingen and Indonesian partner institutions. Five of the principal investigators are from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development in Goettingen (B. Brümmer, O. Mußhoff, M. Qaim, S. Schwarze, M. Wollni).
