Work Experience since 1987

Involved in several national and international research projects: heavy metal contamination and soil restoration studies including lime, wood ash and bio-compost applications, the EU-NITREX and EXMAN projects on acidification and eutrophication of forest ecosystems in Europe, responsible for the Solling “Roof Project”, including artificial drought experiments and 15N application studies, a European study on bacterial decay of wooden constructions in anaerobic conditions, the EU-project BACPOLES, including intensive laboratory investigations with microcosms, impact of woody biomass production / short rotation coppice on soil and other ecosystem functions, the NOVALIS- and RATING-SRC-project.

Application of research funds: Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, German Ministry of Research, Science and Technology BMBF, German Research Council DFG, Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt DBU, EU Commission, Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry.
