Scientific Advisory Board

The scientific advisory board (SAB) provides guidance and feedback in the course of the proposed research by attending the project´s annual workshops, commenting working papers and joining in discussions of results, work and progress and the planning of future steps. It consists of the three following economists of international reputation in relevant areas of this project:


Dr. Frank van Tongeren
OECD

Trade and Agriculture Directorate, France

Dr. Frank van Tongeren is a Senior Economist with the Directorate for Trade and Agriculture with the OECD in Paris. He received his PhD from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and has led the International Trade and Development Division at the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (Lei) in the Netherlands. Dr. van Tongeren has published widely and is highly respected internationally as an expert in applied trade policy modelling, a core area of our proposed research.


Prof. Dr. Barry Goodwin
Agricultural and Resource Economics
North Carolina State University, USA

Prof. Barry Goodwin is the William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics of North Carolina State University. He is the most prolific author worldwide in the area of price transmission and market integration analysis, and has published a number of seminal papers in this area both in agricultural economics and in general economics. He co-authored the chapter on spatial price analysis in the 2001 Handbook of Agricultural Economics and will support the price transmission analysis proposed in this application.


Amer Madi
Amer Madi is a managing partner of Al-Sahel for Institutional Development and Communications, a Palestinian consulting firm based in Ramallah, West Bank. He is a senior analyst, specializing in rural livelihoods development and the agricultural sector in the Palestinian territories. He has comprehensive expertise in economic and agricultural policy consulting, project planning, monitoring and evaluation, and applied socio-economic research. He has authored a number of studies and reports for international organizations, e.g. The Impact of Closure and High Food Prices on Performance of Imported Staple Foods and Vegetable and Fruits Market in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt).


Prof Scott McDonald

Prof. McDonald is Professor of Economics at Oxford Brookes University. He is a GTAP Research Fellow. His research interests include Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling; Social accounting matrices (SAM); Environment Trade and Development; Climate change; Development & Agricultural Policy Analysis; Economic Growth & Development.
Scott has undertaken consultancy for and research with a number of institutions and government departments, including the World Bank, Joint Research Centre of the European Union, Resources for the Future, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, South African Department of Agriculture.
