The General Concept

The Courant Research Centre “Plant Performance in Agriculture and Forestry” will be the eighth Courant Research Centre (CRC) to foster interdisciplinary research at the University of Göttingen.

The CRC will consist of three junior groups and ten contributing scientists working on aspects of root biology linked to the functional diversity of the soil microbial community.

The centre is hosted by three Faculties (Biology; Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, Agricultural Sciences). Junior groups will profit from excellent equipment in the participating departments. The coherence of the centre is supported by a core facility which helps to overcome problems associated with the low accessibility of the root system.

Doctoral training for PhD students working in this CRC will be supported by the Graduate School GAUSS, which offers curricular educational programs for PhD students in life and natural sciences.
