History

1974
The position as head of the institute is taken over by Professor Dr. Horst Dieter Brabänder. Since the Lower Saxony Universities and Higher Education act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz) came into effect in 1978 Professor Dr. Brabänder and Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Ferenc Katό form the directorate. Since 1976 Professor Katό is an associate professor and a regular professor since 1978 of forest business economics.
In 1987 the name of the institute is changed from “Institut für Forstliche Betriebswirtschaftslehre” to “Institut für Forstökonomie” in connection with the institution of a professorship and department for environmental economics and wood products markets and the call of economist Professor Dr. Volker Bergen. These efforts give the institute a profile which at this time is marked by equal teaching and research activities in macro and micro economic problems.
