Information Library at the Office of Student Affairs

Who we are

The information counter is part of the Office of Student Affairs at Göttingen University. It caters to secondary school students and other prospective university students, to students currently enrolled at Göttingen University, as well as to our alumni.

We offer a wide range of information: various books, brochures, magazines, and folders with material concerning studying and work placement in Germany and abroad, occupational fields, the job market, and further training. We prepare all the information for you in a way that enables you to find specifically what you are looking for.

Our print media are always up to date. If for example a new university ranking is published, you will find it in our shelf only a few days later. Our folders are updated with current articles and reports from newspapers and magazines, as well as from the Internet.

You can do your research right here in our office: two web terminals and six workstations are available for you to use. Our staff will answer your questions, assist you with your research, and arrange contact with informants at the University and beyond. Due to the close collaboration with the Central Student Advisory Office and International Student Services, we can guarantee that you will be informed comprehensively.

By means of our on-line catalogue you can get a general idea of what books are available, and systematically prepare yourself for doing research. If we have several copies of a particular book, you may borrow one of them for a whole week; if we only have one copy, you can still take it home with you over the weekend.
