Forestry training. Assistant at the botanical gardens and museum in Greifswald (1854 – 60). Head of the forestry botanical gardens in Hann. – Münden from 1869 – 95. Botanist and dendrologist.

ZENKER, Georg August 1855 – 1922
born: Leipzig died: Bipinde (Cameroon)
Initially worked as a gardener. Went to Kongo and Gabun in 1866. In colonial service as collector in Cameroon (Yaunde) from 1889 – 95. Planter in Cameroon (Bipinde) from 1896, collected plants and animals.

Comments: Many numbers for the final revisions were distributed with the provisional

ZETTERSTEDT, Johan Emanuel 1828 – 1880

Lecturer at the University of Uppsala. Grammar teacher in Jönköping from 1863 onwards. Botanist and in particular, bryologist.

ZEYHER, Carl Ludwig Philipp 1799 – 1858
born: Dillenburg, Hesse died: Cape Town
Trained as gardener. Plant collector and botanist. Travelled initially with SIEBER to Mauritius. Under took several expeditions to South Africa from 1823 onwards (partly with ECKLON and BURKE). In Europe from 1844 – 47. In Kapstadt from 1847 where he worked part time as a gardener.
