Jannik Schritt, M.A.

Jannik Schritt is PhD researcher at our institute. His dissertation project 'Petro-Democracy: Oil, Power and Politics in Niger' addresses the question of social, political and economic transformation processes that were triggered by the start of oil production in Niger in 2011. From March 2011 until February 2017, Jannik Schritt worked as a junior researcher in the German Research Foundation (DFG) funded project on 'Significations of Oil and Social Change in Niger and Chad' coordinated by Prof. Nikolaus Schareika PhD. His research project is thematically situated in the fields of political and economic anthropology with a special focus on the infrastructures of politics and oil production. Jannik Schritt has published several articles on transnational governmentality, oil politics and protest movements in Niger.
