Wood Biology and Technology - Qualifications for the Wood Industry

In different research groups guided by internationally renowned scientists students mainly deal with:

  • Wood properties,

  • Wood modification with different chemicals,

  • Biotechnological application of wood-decomposing fungi and their enzymes,

  • Biology of wood formation and ecological influences, and

  • Gene technology for wood and fungi production.

In addition to their research project the students take part in laboratory courses, soft-skill programs and language courses (German / English). In a seminar they have to give presentations themselves.

So they get – within three years - all the necessary knowledge and experiences to become a successful scientist, able to work in interdisciplinary and international teams.
