March for Science on May 4, 2019 – renewed support from the University of Göttingen
(pug) As in previous years, the University of Göttingen supports this year’s March for Science in Göttingen, which will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Under the local banner "Science is for Everyone", the organisers aim to draw attention to the need for freedom of science and to promote understanding and trust in science. The third March for Science begins at 10 a.m. at the Gänseliesel with a family-friendly warm-up. All those interested are cordially invited to exchange ideas with the "Ask me anything" scientists and participate in the "Humans of Science" project.
At 11 a.m. the demonstration will set off for the central campus of the university at the Platz der Göttinger Sieben. A Junior Science Fair, where students, young researchers and pupils can exhibit research or charitable projects, begins there at 12 noon. Speakers at this year's March for Science include University President Professor Ulrike Beisiegel, Aniruddha Dutta, PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Düsseldorf and German Science Slam Champion 2018, as well as poetry science slammer Alex Dreppec.
In addition to the University of Göttingen, the March for Science is supported by the Göttingen State and University Library and the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung Göttingen mbH. Further information can be found at www.sciencemarchgoe.de and @ScienceMarchGoe.
