Three-minute thesis competition

07.12.2016

Call: Search for PhD-student presenters
Date of the slam: February 2nd, 2017, 8pm
Venue: ZHG 009

Are you a PhD student at the University of Göttingen? Can you present the core message of your doctoral thesis in just three minutes? Can you explain your research to a group of lay people – in English? And finally: are you interested in a trip to Edinburgh should you be among the final contestants? Then this is something for you!

The University of Göttingen is participating in the "3-minute thesis competition" of the Coimbra Group*. The competition has three phases: On February 2nd, the University of Göttingen will host a university-wide event where a jury will select a winner. The winner’s video will be sent to the Coimbra Group. In April, a second jury will select the final three contestants from over 20 finalists from the participating Coimbra Group universities. These three final contestants from all over Europe will be invited to join the Coimbra Group Annual Assembly in Edinburgh on June 6th-9th, where they will present once more.

The University of Göttingen three-minute thesis competition will take place on February 2nd, 2017, 8pm. You must limit your presentation to 3 minutes and you cannot make use of slides. Please be aware that your presentation will be filmed. Should you be invited to Edinburgh, the University of Göttingen will pay for your flight and accommodation.

We have twelve slots and will fill them on a first-come, first-serve basis. Email esther.vonRichthofen@zvw.uni-goettingen.de to register or to find out more! Deadline for registration is January 20th, 2017. If you don’t want to present your research, but are interested in the event, come along and watch. If you have a friend who might be interested in presenting, please forward this.
