B03 Relaxation, thermalization, transport and condensation in highly excited solids (Blöchl, Kehrein, Manmana, Pruschke)

We study relaxation mechanisms of optically induced excitations in correlated systems by using and developing a portfolio of theoretical methods. This allows us to study the time evolution in theoretical model systems and in perovskites on timescales from femtoseconds (times before the formation of quasiparticles), over picoseconds (formation of polarons and coupling to phonons) to nanoseconds and beyond (cooperative electron-lattice effects, charge transfer across interfaces).
