IWSM 2014: Social Activities
Important note:
If you would like to participate at the Conference Dinner and/or one of the excursions, please register for them before April 30, 2014, so we can anticipate how many busses and seats we need to book.
If you register at a later point, we will try to find you a place, however we cannot guarantee that there will be space left. Thank you!
Conference Dinner
The Conference Dinner will take place on Thursday evening at the DT Keller, the restaurant in the German theatre (“Deutsches Theater”), which is located at the historic centre of Göttingen.
Excursion
For the excursion, which will take place on Wednesday afternoon, you can choose between the following two options.
Grenzmuseum Schifflersgrund
The museum Grenzmuseum Schifflersgrund is located at the former Inner German border between Hesse and Thuringia. It informs about the developments in the occupied zones after World War II and the living conditions close to the border until the reunification of Germany in 1990.
Walking City Tour
An English-speaking guide will lead you on an approximately 2,5-hour walking tour through the historic centre of Göttingen and tell you about the living and working places of Gauß, Lichtenberg and others.
In the evening both groups will join at the Plesse castle for having dinner in a medieval atmosphere and with a spectacular view. The participants will be brought back to Göttingen by bus.
