Since September 2005, the University of Göttingen offers a German language crash course with a revised and improved syllabus for exchange students. The new course "Getting started at university – made easy: Everyday Communication, Academic Communication, and Cultural & Regional Studies" ("Studienanfang leicht gemacht: Alltagskommunikation, Wissenschafskommunikation und Landeskunde") now comprises six lessons per day in which you will additionally be introduced to the terminology of the various disciplines. Moreover, the social and cultural programme of the course has been extended to include several day trips and visits to various University institutes. In the course, you will be introduced to both everyday situations at university and to German culture in general, which will help you to feel at home in Göttingen and at university.
Unfortunately, we had to introduce a fee for this course to cover the increased costs of teaching and of the social and cultural programme. ERASMUS students from Central Eastern Europe can apply for a partial grant though (see website of the crash courses for further information).

For the upcoming winter semester, the Institute for Intercultural Communication (IIK) in cooperation with the Lectorate for German as a Foreign Language (Lektorat Deutsch als Fremdsprache) offers the following course:
