    Description: The goal is to increase biodiversity conservation and improve the management of environmental and natural resources of the Cerrado biome.
    The implementation of the Sustainable Cerrado Initiative receives financial support from the Global Environment Fund (GEF) through the World Bank and the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO).
    Others institutions further are involved: Ministry of the Environment (MMA), Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA), National Institute for Space Research and Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation.
    Activity: Use of remote sensing to map the agricultural areas in Cerrado Biome.
    Position held: I was GIS Analyst with the supervision from Embrapa Satellite Monitoring by the researches Daniel de Castro Victoria and Edson Luis Bolfe.

  • Soy Moratorium for the Amazon Biome
    2011 to 2012
    Description: The scope of the work is to identify the occurrence of soybean planting in areas of the Amazon Biome deforested after July 24, 2006, in accordance with the criteria of the Soy Moratorium. The specific objective of the work is to use satellite images to select areas with the probably presence of soybeans in deforested areas indicated by the PRODES project. Information of land use and occupation was later confirmed through aerial photographs and field surveys.
