Major Research Interests

Modification of biomolecules (peptides/proteins/nucleic acids) by organic synthesis allowing for new functions, specific recognition, or molecular architecture:
- Organization of peptide helices within lipid bilayers, formation of membrane channels
- Peptide/protein mediated membrane fusion
- Stabilization and functionalization of secondary structures (DNA and peptides)
- Design of DNA binding molecules, bending of DNA double strands
- Molecular switches
- Functionalization of knotted proteins
- Topology and dynamic sequence modification of biomolecules for catalysis
- Catalytic mechanism and inhibitors of orotidindecarboxylase
