The past dynamics of environment and carbon, the potential for climate change mitigation and the assessment for conservation, management and restoration

Dr. K. Anggi Hapsari focuses on the long-term vegetation dynamics of rainforests in central Sumatra as well as the plant phenology and plant-pollinator interactions in both rainforest and rainforest transformations.

Specific research goals are to:

  • Reconstruct the long-term dynamics of vegetation and climate as well as the interaction between human and ecosystem in the Jambi Province through multi-proxy palaeoecological analyses
  • Assess how climate, fires and human impact influence the ecosystems rate of change and plant diversity pattern
  • Study the plant phenology, dispersal and reproductive strategies by analyzing the pollen rain along a land-use transect and at different levels of biodiversity enrichment
  • Explore the interaction between the plants and the pollinators through pollen analysis in order to assess the effects of land-use changes on the pollination functions and networks at local and landscape level
