1988 PhD (Dr.rer.nat.) in Biochemistry, University Marburg

1987-1990 Senior Scientist at the University of Marburg, Biochemisty (AK Kindl), with the task: Characterization of a genomic libraray of Vitis var. Optima for the identification of Stilben- Synthase- and Phenylalanin-Ammoniak-Lyase- Genes.

1990-1995 Senior Scientist at the University of Göttingen, Institute of Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding, involved in the following projects:
EU-project (BIO2CT-930373): "Development and adaptation of rapid
molecular screening technics for assessing genetic diversity in forest trees."
EU-project (AIR3CT93-0803): "Conservation, protection and restoration of low elevation mediterranean coniferous forests threatened by wildfires. "

1995-1997 Research (self-embloyed) in the field of molecular genetics of woody plants.
