It does not always have to be science: Career prospects for PhD students – GGG alumni talk

Staying in academia is only one option, as a doctorate (in the field of social sciences) opens up far more possibilities. In order to show you some of these options, alumni have talked about their own experience on the way to and in positions outside academia on May 20th 2019.

The alumni talked about their current position and how they got there, what defines their work and what was crucial on their way:

  • Dr. Anne Wiese (PhD at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and today Mangement for Corporate Responsibility at the GLS Group / General Logistics Systems Germany GmbH & Co. OHG)
  • Dr. Torsten Halwas (PhD at the Faculty of Law and today at the Law Department of the city of Karlsruhe / Stadtrechtsdirektor der Rechtsabteilung der städtischen Verkehrsgesellschaften in Karlsruhe).
  • Dr. Alfred Benedikt Brendel (PhD at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and today Head of Smart Mobility Research Group in Göttingen) ggg_alumni2019a

On the base of "Praxismodul", this year’s alumni talk on career paths had its focus on careers in the area of mobility.
Good advices of these alumni have been published in the GGG-newsletter in August 2019.
