Because the Lichtenberg-Kolleg aims to increase the international visibility of the humanities and social sciences at the University of Göttingen, acclaimed scholars from the Göttingen Research Campus also participate in the research projects carried out at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg. This kind of cooperative research between fellows and Göttingen scholars promotes the cross-fertilization of research topics, long-term collaboration, and the development of research foci on the Göttingen Research Campus. The Lichtenberg-Kolleg offers different levels and types of integration and cooperation to the Göttingen scholars.
Associates
Göttingen scholars who closely collaborate with one or several fellows and are involved in the development of a new joint research project are granted a special associate status at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg. They are accommodated with additional funds as well as a decreased workload to compensate for the additional responsibilities and to enable a greater focus on research.

Göttingen researchers whose research interests are aligned with the research foci of the Lichtenberg-Kolleg also have the opportunity to receive (limited) funds and organizational support for workshops, colloquia, and conferences.
