Documents for the application: Sufficient German language skills

For the enrolment at the Faculty of Humanities you must demonstrate sufficient German language skills.

If you are not a native German speaker, you must demonstrate sufficient German language skills on level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). You can demonstrate these skills by the successful completion of

  • the DSH-exam (at least DSH-2) or
  • the TestDaF (at least 4XTDN4) or
  • the Goethe-Zertifikat C2 or
  • the TELC C1.

As a rule, the last test must have been taken no more than three years prior to submission of the application for admission to the Master's degree programme (date received).
Applicants who have passed an equal exam, can apply for an exemption at The Language Centre German as a Foreign Language (Lektorat Deutsch als Fremdsprache). A DSH-certificate from another university can only be accepted if the exam regulations of the university are registrated at the HRK and if your German language skills actually correspond to the required DSH-level (see here).
