My research project focuses on a group of literary motifs that pertain to the provision and despoliation of the treasures of the temple and of the palace in the narrative books of the Hebrew Bible. At this stage, I am analyzing in detail the short despoliation notices in the book of Kings (1 Kgs 14:25-28; 1 Kgs 15:17-22; 2 Kgs 12:18-19; 14:8-14; 16:5-9; 18:13-16; 24:10-13; 25:13-17). The purpose is to discern both textual and ideological convergences and differences between these notices in order to sketch a historical ‘biography’ of the literary use of this narrative topos.
