GenderLabor

"Genderlabor" on the topic of body modifications

In the winter semester 2016/17 the "Genderlabor" will take place for the third time, this time with a focus on body modifications. The "Genderlabor" is a collaboration between the Göttingen Centre for Gender Studies (GCG), the Graduate School of Humanities Göttingen (GSGG), and the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences (GGG). It offers graduate students, doctoral and post-doctoral candidates the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects. Since the summer semester 2016 a workshop under the heading "Situated knowledge - theory, methodology, empiricism" is also a regular part of the "Genderlabor"; this time the topic will be Research on the Net, and it will take place on 24.01.17.

Also in store, amongst other things: The documentary "Vulva 3.0 - Zwischen Tabu und Tuning" ("Vulva 3.0 - Between taboo and tuning"), and, for the first time, two presentations in English: On medical technologies and parenthood in Israel and affirmative action in South Africa.

The "Genderlabor" will kick off on 27.10.2016 with a talk by Elin Halvorsen (Berlin) on her documentary project "Haarkleid" on the topic of "Female body hair - an invisible taboo?", 18-20h at the Graduate School of Humanities Göttingen (Friedländer Weg 2).
