Gene flow and the mating system of the endemic tree species Dipterocarpus cf. condoriensis

Dipterocarpus cf. condorensis is an endemic dipterocarp with a restricted distribution in monsoon forests in southern parts of Vietnam. We analyze genetic variation and the reproduction system of this entomogamous and barochorous species based on the observation of molecular and biochemical gene markers. The focus of the study is on the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of the mating system. Genetic structures of single tree progenies for different stands are compared. Results will form a basis for the regeneration of natural forests and the in situ conservation of this threatened species.
