As a research assistant at the ‚Institute for Cognitive Linguistics’ of the Goethe-University of Frankfurt, I am currently teaching classes on German Sign Language (DGS). Between 1994 and 2001, I studied German language and literature, education, and didactics in linguistics at the University of Frankfurt. During this time, I worked as an assistant at the DFG research project “Modality-dependent aspects of sign language production: Evidence from slips of the hands and their repairs in German Sign Language“ (LE 596/6-1 and -2). I obtained my PhD in linguistics with a dissertation on DGS morphology.
My main interests are didactics and teaching in linguistics. At the University of Frankfurt and, among others, the college Fresenius Idstein, I am giving introductory and advanced courses on different topics of DGS grammar. Furthermore, I teach in advanced training programs for DGS teachers and interpreters and cooperate closely with different schools across Germany, where I give talks on DGS grammar. In addition, I work with the DGS research group at the German Department of the University of Göttingen, where I mainly contribute to the development of suitable stimulus materials for various projects.
