International workshop

"Space, Capital and Social History in South Asia"

In June 2010 CeMIS organised an international workshop on "Space, Capital and Social History in South Asia". The workshop was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

About 50 particiants from around the world discussed social space in a distinctly non‐metaphorical and concrete sense. Space has emerged as a fulcrum of contemporary social transformation and political conflict in South Asia.

This workshop created a forum for younger as well as more experienced researchers from various disciplines, including history, sociology, social anthropology and geography, to explore fresh, critical perspectives on the history of social space in South Asia.

Here you will find some pictures from the workshop.
