New professor in Business Education: Prof. Dr. Julia Warwas joins the faculty in Göttingen

Prof. Dr. Julia Warwas joined the Faculty on 1 March 2018 as the Chair of Business Education with a focus on Professional Teaching and Learning. The chair was newly established at the Faculty of Economic Sciences for a five-year term.

Her research interests are in the areas of teaching professionalism and leadership in (vocational) schools, the relevance of professional self-concept and value orientation in one's professional life as well as the evaluation of further education and quality management measures in vocational education. In her research activities, she works with empirical methods of educational research, such as video-based process analysis of instructional interactions.

Prof. Dr. Warwas will offer courses at the Faculty for the business education bachelor's and master's programmes. In the 2018 term, she will focus on theories of teaching and learning as well as functions of education management.

Prior to coming to Göttingen, Julia Warwas was a research assistant at the Chair of Business Education and Educational Management at the University of Bamberg. There, she also temporarily led the Forschungsstelle Bildungsmanagement (research centre for education management). Prior to this, she temporarily held the Chair for Business Education with a focus on Theory and Instructional Design in Vocational Education at the University of Hohenheim. Additionally, Prof. Warwas participated in the Erasmus+ Programme, Staff Mobility for Teaching between Countries, where she taught several times at the University of Turku in Finland, both master's students and doctoral students.

Prof. Dr. Julia Warwas, after completing training as a bank clerk, studied business education and educational management at the University of Bamberg, where she earned her PhD in 2011. Her doctoral thesis was on the topic of "Berufliches Selbstverständnis, Beanspruchung und Bewältigung in der Schulleitung" (professional selves, demands, and coping of school leaders). She is married and has a child.
