PhD-Programme between University of Göttingen and China Scholarship Council
The programme for joint doctoral training of the University of Göttingen and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) encompasses the priority areas of Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Economic Sciences, Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, Geosciences and Geography, Humanities, Law, Mathematics and Informatics, Medicine, Physics, Social Sciences and Theology; other areas may also be considered. Every year in March, the University of Göttingen proposes a compiled list of suitable candidates to the CSC, from which the CSC selects students who will receive scholarships. The Chinese doctoral students receive a CSC scholarship for a period of up to 48 months. A joint supervision of the PhD students by scientists of the University of Göttingen and the respective Chinese home university is favoured.
In order to register, they have to submit their CV, the invitation letter issued by their Göttingen supervisor, and the respective language certificate (PhD-LanguageRequirements) to China Office by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) no later than March 10th every year.Apart from this registration, the applicants have to do a normal application to CSC (CSC online system); in this application to CSC, they should clearly state that they plan their doctoral studies at the University of Göttingen.
Chinese students who presently are already studying in Germany may also apply for CSC doctoral scholarships within this programme. The precondition that Chinese applicants must not be currently working outside of China, does not apply any longer.
