Protestant Christians Resisting National Socialism – With the Participation of Göttingen, the First Online Exhibition on this Issue Has Been Developed

Banner Protestantische Christen im Widerstand

Under the title “Widerstand!?” (Resistance!?) the first online exhibition in Germany on this issue provides a documentation of the history of resistance of Protestant Christians to National Socialism.
In just over six years of research 26 researchers have been compiling all together 584 historical documents in the form of texts, pictures, audios and videos which depict Christian resistance to National Socialism in all its contours and ambivalences. The fundamental theologico-ethical questions behind the exhibition have mainly been developed by Prof. Reiner Anselm.

For the first time, the online exhibition “Widerstand!?” displays the whole range of resistance among Protestant Christians to National Socialism. It attempts to give both a multifaceted as well as a historically sound impression of how Protestant Christians dealt with the Nazi terror regime. The exhibition has been developed under the auspices of the Evangelische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für kirchliche Zeitgeschichte (Evangelical Consortium for Contemporary Church History), of which, among others, the Göttingen theologian PD Dr. Antje Roggenkamp-Kaufmann is a member.

At the internet address "www.evangelischer-widerstand.de" this innovative presentation of research results in the humanities can be accessed.
