Topics for Bachelor, Master and Diploma theses

  • Simulation of an electric vehicle virtual power plant for the participation at the German control power market - An economical and technical analysis and evaluation

  • Electric Mobility and Mobile Communications - An Analysis of IS-Specific Technological Analogies and Differences

  • Both, the electric mobility and mobile communications domain depend on usage transaction information for billing processes in a high granularity. The charging process specified in ISO 15118 determines, that the energy disposal is monitored and measured and that transaction details are exchanged between the vehicle, the charging station and backend systems on a regular basis. It is assumed that there exist many analogies in data management, usage information processing, etc. between both domains. Therefore, the aim of this thesis should be to assess both domains in the face of information processing and to identify analogies and differences in a structured way.

  • Development of a Dynamic Battery Pricing Model for Electric Vehicle Battery Leasing

  • Due to high production costs, the battery of an electric vehicle is a major cost driver of the overall vehicle price making it hard for electric vehicles to compete against their classical counterparts with internal combustion engines. Therefore it emerges that market players strive to solve this problem by separating the battery stack from the vehicle price (and sale contract) and leasing them instead. This method eases customers concerns of bearing the risk of batteries wearing down and loosing value at the same time, which is another major retention in the face of electric vehicle market success. Following the idea of the insurance industries dynamic insurance rate determination, the idea is to develop a dynamic battery pricing model which optimizes battery leasing rates based on customers' battery usage and stress.

  • Own research questions in the domain of electric mobility welcome for discussion!
