Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use

Technical focus of the Institute

The CBL is built by four sections that reflect the ongoing activities and experiences.

Biodiversity and Ecology

In this section research is carried out on biodiversity, its functions and potential for sustainable management. Additionally, study programs to foster understanding of biodiversity by students are developed and organised.

Forest Ecosystem Research

Forest ecosystem research projects are established and coordinated involving institutes and faculties of Goettingen university and external partners. Recent topics are forest management under climate change and biomass production.

Agriculture and Environment

Modern arable and animal production systems need solutions for environmental sound management practices. This section comprises research and development for German and Mid-European agricultural systems.

Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry

This section, formerly known as Centre for Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry (CeTSAF) coordinates and organises various interdisciplinary exchange programs for scientists and students.
