About Us

The Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use has coordinating staff at its headquarters, as well as CBL secondary members and affiliates.
Postdoctoral scientists of the University of Göttingen with research interests and teaching activities in the field of biodiversity and sustainable land use are invited to apply for secondary membership.

CBL Foci


Biodiversity and Ecology


In this section research is carried out on biodiversity, its functions and potential for sustainable management. Additionally, study programs to foster understanding of biodiversity by students are developed and organised.

Forest Ecosystem Research


Forest ecosystem research projects are established and coordinated involving institutes and faculties of Goettingen university and external partners. Recent topics are forest management under climate change and biomass production.

Agriculture and Environment


Modern arable and animal production systems need solutions for environmental sound management practices. This section comprises research and development for German and Mid-European agricultural systems.

Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry


This working group, formerly known as Centre for Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry (CeTSAF) coordinates and organizes various interdisciplinary exchange programs for scientists and students.
