Travelling to Göttingen


By plane:

  • Airport Hannover (HAJ), one-hour train ride from Göttingen
  • Airport Frankfurt/Main (FRA), 2.15-hour train ride from Göttingen
  • Airport Hamburg (HAM), 2.45-hour train ride from Göttingen

    Walking from the train station to the Institute

    When leaving the train station, follow directions of "Zentrum". Outside, you turn to the right and follow "Berliner Straße". At the first intersection, continue straight to "Bürgerstraße". Follow this street until you turn right into "Bunsenstraße" (the fourth street on the right). The building on the left is the Mathematical Institute.

    From the train station to the Institute by bus:

    When leaving the train station, follow directions of "Zentrum". Outside, you turn to the right to the bus station (platform A or D).

    Take the bus No. 21 to station "Bürgerstrasse", it takes approx. 3 minutes.

    Or take the bus No. 61 to the station "Walkemühlenweg", it takes approx. 8 minutes.


    By car:

    "Autobahn" (expressway, A7) / from Hannover (B3):

  • A7: take exit no. 73 "Göttingen/Dransfeld"
  • Follow directions of Göttingen "Zentrum" (B3)
  • Continue for about 3 km
  • At the intersection after the railway under passing make a right turn into "Bürgerstraße" (B27)
  • Follow the street until you turn right into "Bunsenstraße" (the fourth street on the right)
  • The Mathematical Institute is on the left


  • From Braunlage (B27):

  • Follow directions of "Zentrum" / "Bahnhof" (= train station)
  • Pass the train station
  • At the intersection continue straight to "Bürgerstraße"
  • Follow the street until you turn right into "Bunsenstraße" (the fourth street on the right)
  • The Mathematical Institute is on the left
