Trains

Because Göttingen is located right in the centre of Germany and directly on an ICE line, you can get to bigger cities in both the North and South of Germany relatively quickly. For example: Frankfurt and Hamburg are each two hours away, Berlin two-and-a-half hours; you can reach Munich in about four hours and Basel in about five.

Semester ticket
For students holding a semester ticket, the use of local trains in Lower Saxony and Bremen as well as in several surrounding cities is free of charge.
