Travelling by train

Göttingen can be easily reached by ICE.
There are taxis located at both exits of the train station.
The destination is: UNI-Nordbereich, Abteilung Forstbotanik, Büsgenweg 2

Traveling by bus from the train station to the institute

Exit the train station towards the city centre (Innenstadt), to the right hand side you will the bus station (ZOB) with boards displaying the departure times for the busses. (The whole area was newly refurbished in 1997/1998.)

Take the bus no. 51 (Campus Line) which departs from bus platform D every 30 minutes at *10 and *40 to the stop Burckhardtweg (press signal button); it will take about 12 minutes.

At the stop follow the Burckhardtweg downhill till you see a red cobbled road, follow the road till you reach the institutes.
The department of Forest Botany and Tree Physiology is situated at Büsgenweg 2.

Traveling to Göttingen by car via the A7

You can reach Gottingen via the Autobahn A7. Take Exit Göttingen-Nord (Junction Nr. 72 / Braunlage/Duderstadt). Continue to the end of the Autobahn access road (go east). At the large junction with traffic lights (speed cameras!) go straight on along the B27 direction Braunlage/Duderstadt. After passing 2 pedestrian crossings (speed cameras!) you will cross a bridge and then see a hospital on your right.

Stay on the B27 (Braunlage/Duderstadt) till the next traffic light (before the junction there is a “Jaques- Weindepot” on the right). Turn left into Faßberg direction Nikolausberg.

After 400m turn left into Grisebachstraße which leads to the faculty Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology.
The next exit on the right leads to the different institutes.

The department of Forest Botany and Tree Physiology is located at Büsgenweg 2 (multi story building with antenna on the roof)

Traveling by plane


The nearest airport to Göttingen is Hannover (ca. 120 km). A train link takes you to Hannover main station (line S5, every 30 minutes; takes 12 minutes), where you can get on an Intercity express (ICE) train to Göttingen. The trip with the ICE takes about 35 minutes.

The Frankfurt/Main airport is ca. 250 km from Göttingen. There is a direct ICE connection to Göttingen. The trip with the ICE takes about 2h.
