With the beginning of April 2012 new at the Faculty of Economic Sciences: Prof. Dr. Holger Strulik


Prof. Dr. Holger Strulik accepted the Chair of International Economics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Göttingen beginning April 1, 2012. He currently heads the Institute of Macroeconomics at the University of Hanover.

In Göttingen he teaches courses in the Bachelor’s programme in Economics and in the Two-Subject Bachelor's Programme, Economics, as well as in the Master’s programmes in International Economics and Development Economics. Furthermore, Prof. Strulik is an associated researcher of the Courant Research Centre "Poverty, Equity, and Growth in Developing and Transition Countries" and the research training group "Globalization and Development" that is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). His research foci are in the fields of economic growth and development, population economics, health and aging, public finance and dynamic game theory.

Into the bargain, Holger Strulik is a member of the Macroeconomic Council, the Development Economics Council and the Population Economics Council of the German Economic Association. He also is referee for the "National Science Foundation" and various other economic journals.

He was awarded his doctorate at the Chair of Business Cycle and Growth Theory, Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h.c. Günter Gabisch, at Göttingen University in 1996. Seven years later, Prof. Strulik received his postdoctoral lecture qualification („habilitation“) at the University of Hamburg. After working at the University of Copenhagen from 2004 to 2006, Prof. Strulik accepted the professorship in Hanover. From 2009 to 2010, he stayed as Visiting Professor at the Brown University, USA.
