Short description

Artificial Intelligence and Organizational Processes

The explosive development of automation and AI technologies and their applications brings with it many opportunities and chances to improve organizational and work processes, but also many challenges. Approaches to interpretability of decisions and actions of intelligent systems are indispensable, but - especially for deep learning - not yet available. There is also a lack of procedures to avoid discrimination in the development of AI solutions and to increase fairness. For this reason, the effects of automated decision-making processes will be analysed using principles of behavioural economics, work sociology and organisational theory. Technologies for creating interpretability are to be evaluated and constructed on the basis of behavioural science.

Regulatory Framework and Economic Policy Instruments:

For the actors in the political process, the digital transformation entails a multitude of (economic) policy problems and opportunities that must be addressed scientifically. From this analysis, proposals will be derived for a constructive regulatory process, which in turn enables effective digital transformation processes. It will also be clarified which networking and coordination needs arise between the stakeholders and in which institutions these should be best implemented.
