Trauma and Literature

Since the mid-1990s, the intersection of trauma theory and literary studies has proven itself to be mutually fruitful. Traumatic events as thematized in literature have been researched, for example torture, rape, genocide. Beyond this approach, researchers have also looked at the relations between specific strategies used by victims of trauma for remembering, commemorating and working through these experiences and literary modes of representation. This issue focuses on exploring the status of the current discussion, and more specifically on the status of methodological and theoretical approaches to these questions.
