Area of expertise: exsolution of volatiles during melt decompression, H2O solubility and diffusivity in silicate melts, FTIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, IHPV experiments, CSPV experiments
In my research I experimentally investigate the degassing processes and properties of magmas that are not directly accessible for observation in nature. I conduct experiments at high pressure and temperature to simulate the conditions of magmas at depth. My work focuses on the bubble formation and degassing processes in silicate melts of different composition upon magma ascent and the solubility and diffusivity of volatiles in silicate melts under varying pressure and temperature conditions. This combined knowledge is important to understand the onset of volcanic eruptions and their explosive potential.
