The DFG Myth Research Group 2064 STRATA of the University of Göttingen invites Early Career Scholars to a Young Researchers’ Conference on Mythological Research on March 9–10, 2023.

Aims of the conference:
Researchers in the fields of mythological research and/or narrative theory and methodology will have the opportunity to learn, apply and discuss in the context of their own research projects the methodological tools of Hylistics developed by Göttingen research groups over the past decade, guided by accomplished researchers:

The conference language will be English and German, depending on the successful applicants.

plenary lectures: theoretical introduction to the latest developments in myth research as part of a narrative research theory (Hylistics)
study in interactive workshop groups with guided application of the hylistic methodology to one's own source material (in small groups of approx. 6 people)
presentation and plenary discussion of the results

How to apply:
We welcome applications from graduate students and postdocs of Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Classics, and other disciplines with myths in textual concretisation. The choice of source material (text sources of different languages, no image material) is up to the participants.

Preliminary requirements:
Prerequisite for participation is sound philological knowledge of one's own source material, including the philological analysis of a mythical source including an own translation, to be submitted before the conference.
