We are pleased to invite you to the Master’s course M.WIWI-VWL.0199: Industrial Economics, which will be held at the following times in summer term 2026:
• Thursdays, 10:15–11:45, Room VG 4.101
• Fridays, 10:15–11:45, Room ZHG 105
The course provides an introduction to the analysis of markets in which firms possess market power and interact strategically. The lecture develops key theoretical and empirical tools—drawing on concepts from game theory and market models—to understand firm behavior, market structure, and their implications for efficiency and welfare.
In the accompanying exercise sessions, students will apply the theoretical concepts to practical examples, enhancing their ability to model and evaluate real-world market structures. Students will have the opportunity to play and analyze selected market models in classroom experiments, allowing them to compare theoretical predictions with actual decision-making behavior.
The exam will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, 10:00 a.m.
The course will begin on Friday, April 17. No preregistration is required.
We look forward to welcoming you to the course!
