SALLnet researchers in macadamia farms
Feral and managed honeybees serve as pollinators for macadamia trees. We investigate the effect of natural vegetation in the surrounding landscape on the pollination service provided by bees.
Insects sampled in natural vegetation and in macadamia monocultures are sorted and identified to assess their diversity. Some are beneficial insects like pollinating bees as well as wasps that parasitize pest species, while others are detrimental for the macadamia trees.
